NAS Pensacola Shooting – December 6, 2019

NAS PENSACOLA, Fla. – Officials at Naval Air Station Pensacola report that an active shooter incident occurred this morning on the base.  Four people are confirmed dead, including the shooter.  The incident took place this morning at Building 633. 

The base is still in lockdown as first responders secure the scene.  Base security and the Navy Criminal Investigative Service are currently investigating.  The names of the victims will not be released until the next of kin have been notified.

Baptist Hospital continues to care for the patients from NAS Pensacola. We received eight patients. Baptist Hospital services have not been interrupted. All services are fully operational. If you have an appointment on our campus, it is not affected by this event.

While we never expect something like this to happen in our community, our Baptist Health Care teams train continuously to respond, rendering exceptional care. All of our responding departments, particularly the emergency department, went into immediate action to care for these individuals, exercising great urgency, compassion and medical expertise.

We thank our partners at NAS Pensacola, Escambia County emergency management services and law enforcement for their tremendous coordinated response. We also thank the medical community and government agencieslocal, state and nationalwho reached out to offer support. In addition, we are grateful to members of our community who reached out to offer assistance and prayers. Please note that we do have an adequate supply of blood; however, we always encourage blood donations be given to One Blood.

Fill The Mayflower 2019 Raises 90,000 Pounds of food

Fill the Mayflower 2019 provides 90,000 meals for neighbors in need

Pensacola, FL (November 27, 2019) – The Northwest Florida community generously donated food and funds during the 2019 Fill the Mayflower event. The area’s largest multi-day food drive, Fill the Mayflower supports the operations of Manna Food Pantries. Donations from Fill the Mayflower will provide 90,000 meals to neighbors in need in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. The event is made possible by Coastal Moving and Storage, Cat Country 98.7, NewsRadio 92.3/AM 1620 and WEAR Ch. 3 News.

Food collected during Fill the Mayflower will be distributed through Manna’s three pantries and nine programs in partnership with 11 other community agencies including the School Resource Office Food Program with Pensacola Police Department and Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Rosa County School District Backpacks4Teens Program, the Healthy Senior Food Program at Westminster Village, the Tender Hearts Caring Hands financial stability program at Ministry Village at Olive, and to children and families through Gulf Coast Kid’s House and Santa Rosa Kid’s House.

“Over the past year, Manna has provided food to 19,499 people, including 8,666 children,” said DeDe Flounlacker, Executive Director of Manna. “This event raised the much-needed food to help feed the hungry during the coming months. We’re so grateful to the Northwest Florida community for supporting this event and continuing to show an amazing capacity to help those in need.”

Carrie Underwood made the call to Brent and Candy to announce that Cat Country 98.7 had won the 2019 CMA Station of the Year!

CatCountry 98.7 named 2019 CMA Station of the Year

Pensacola’s locally-owned country radio station, CatCountry 98.7, has been named 2019 Radio Station of the Year by the Country Music Association (CMA). Carrie Underwood called Brent and Candy to announce the win. This is the second time in three years Cat Country 98.7 has won the coveted CMA Station of the Year award.

CatCountry 98.7 personalities Brent & Candy were also nominated by the CMA for the 2018 Radio Personalities of the Year for The Cat Pak Morning Show. Brent & Candy’s CatPak Morning Show is “Live & Local” 5A to 10A Monday-Friday on CatCountry 98.7 and on www.CatCountry987.com.

The CMA Awards will air on WEAR ABC 3 on November 13th at 7pm. Brent and Candy will be broadcasting live from Nashville in the days leading up to the awards show.

Beyond its effective approach to child abuse cases, the Santa Rosa Kids’ House offers on-site specialized sexual abuse therapy to help child victims and their families recover. To help raise funds and awareness for Santa Rosa Kids House, Cat Country 98.7 hosted its first-ever Spring Jam. Tickets were only $10 for an all-ages show featuring popular country music acts. This inaugural event raised nearly $15,000 for Santa Rosa Kids House.

CatCountry 98.7 Receives 2019 NAB Leadership Foundation- Service to America Award

Pensacola’s locally-owned country radio station, CatCountry 98.7, has received the 2019 NAB Leadership Foundation Service to America Award. This award recognizes CatCountry’s outstanding commitment to serve Santa Rosa Kids House with their annual Spring Jam benefit concert. CatCounty donated over $45,000 to the Santa Rosa Kids house between 2018 and 2019.

The NAB Leadership Foundation Service to America awards presentation was held last night at The Anthem in Washington, DC.

Mary Hoxeng said “I am so proud to work alongside a group of people who care more about others than themselves. Dave and I never dreamed that Cat Country 98.7 would become what it is today. CatCountry 98.7’s Spring Jam pays off big for Santa Rosa Kids House

Locally-owned, CatCountry 98.7 presented the Santa Rosa Kids House with a check for $30,710.42 at the Santa Rosa County Commissioners meeting on April 25th.

All of the proceeds from CatCountry 98.7’s 2ndannual Spring Jam Concert at Juana’s Pagodas and Sailors Grille on March 24thbenefited the Santa Rosa Kids house. The concert featured Michael Ray with special guests Jimmie Allen, Everett and Chloe Channel from Pace, FL.

Brent Lane says “Spring Jam is a labor of love for our team and we are so appreciative to our artists and sponsors who invested in the Santa Rosa Kid’s House. The House provides, much needed hope for a child after a terrible trauma. It helps kids get on a path to healing.”
