Little Big Town Picks Opening Acts for ‘The Breakers Tour’

Posted on: September 26th, 2017 by brent

Apparently if you want to go on tour with Little Big Town you just have to make music they enjoy.

Sounds too easy, but it’s really that simple. Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild told ET Online said that she “love(d) the first songs off (Midland’s) record, the traditional country sound” and thinks that Kacey (Musgraves) is a songwriter and entertainer that will “be around for a long, long, long time”.

Kacey Musgraves and Midland (Jess Carson, Cameron Duddy and Mark Wystrach), joined Little Big Town to appear on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Sept. 20 in celebration the LBT’s tour announcement. All the artists took to the stage for a medley of Midland’s hit “Drinkin’ Problem,” Musgraves’ “Merry Go Round” and also performed the 1979 Electric Light Orchestra hit “Don’t Bring Me Down”.

The Breakers Tour begins February 8th in Oklahoma City and includes almost 30 cities.

Little Big Town took home the award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Girl Crush” at the 2016 Grammy Awards this afternoon (February 15), putting a wrap on the best year of their career.

For the award they beat out Brothers Osborne’s “Stay a Little Longer,” Joey + Rory’s “If I Needed You,” Charles Kelley, Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay for “The Driver” and Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe’s duet, “Lonely Tonight.”

The group were all smiles as they took the stage during the pre-televised part of the ceremony, with Kimberly Schlapman exclaiming, “Oh my stars! Oh my goodness!” as she approached the microphone.

“What a journey,” Phillip Sweet said before Karen Fairchild thanked “the beautiful writers of this song, Liz Rose, Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna … thank you for bringing us to this big old party, [producer] Jay Joyce for killing this record in the studio…just made the most beautiful, beautiful music.”

The televised part of the show will include performances from Carrie Underwood with Sam Hunt, Chris Stapleton and Luke Bryan and will be on CBS at 7:00.
