WYCT – CAT COUNTRY 98.8 WINS SERVICE TO AMERICA AWARD

WYCT – Cat Country 98.7, Pensacola’s locally owned and operated radio station, has been awarded the prestigious Service to America Award presented by the National Association of Broadcasters’ Leadership Foundation for 2024- 2025.

This win was specifically selected due to Cat County’s efforts participating in the Cat Country Cares for Kids Radiothon for Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital.  This annual event’s proceeds contributed to the funding for the hospital’s ‘Angel Eye’ program, which provided equipment for each patient’s bed to stay connected with parents and loved ones.

This is the fourth time WYCT – Cat Country 98.7 has received this award and will be presented at the National Association of Broadcasters’ 2025 Celebration of Service to America gala this coming June in Washington, D.C.

Mission Restore Hope

Channel 3 News, Cat Country and United Way of West Florida hosted “Mission: Restore Hope:” an effort to help our community recover from Hurricane Sally.

Our community proudly raised over $275,000 for the United Way of West Florida.  The money will ALL stay local.

BACKGROUND ON HOW FUNDS ARE USED:

United Way of West Florida will administer the funds.  The money will support recovery efforts for those who were impacted by Hurricane Sally, including assistance to households, building supplies and materials, and support for underinsured and uninsured individuals.   Funds will remain in the community to support recovery efforts.

What the United Way of West Florida is doing:

We are working around the clock to support Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, as we recover TOGETHER from Hurricane Sally.

United Way of West Florida is here before, during, and after disasters. While there is much work to be done in helping our community recover, your gift of money or time helps families get back in their homes and give our vulnerable community members the care they need. UWWF works with local organizations to thoughtfully build strategies to create resilient communities.

WAYS TO AID IN RELIEF EFFORTS

GIVE

The most immediate and useful way to support recovery efforts in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties is through financial assistance. This allows relief organizations to purchase and provide the supplies and resources most needed. To donate to UWWF’s Hurricane Relief Fund, text 850RELIEF to 41444.

VOLUNTEER

You can also support recovery efforts through volunteerism. We have combined our efforts with Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies (BRACE) to coordinate volunteers for the impacted areas. If you would like to support those affected by Hurricane Sally, please create a profile through the UWWF online volunteer portal, GET CONNECTED. BRACE will recruit volunteers by using this platform.
