The History of WYCT

WYCT was built from the ground up on approximately 40 acres of timberland in Baldwin County, Alabama. Construction included a 942-foot broadcast tower. In addition, there is a reinforced transmitter building designed to help the station remain operational during severe Gulf Coast weather.

The station debuted as Christmas Radio 98.7 in November 2003. At midnight on December 26, 2003, WYCT officially switched to country music and became Cat Country 98.7.

Cat Country was the first radio station in Florida to broadcast using HD Radio technology, giving Pensacola-area listeners access to digital-quality FM broadcasting.
