Cat Country 98.7 (WYCT-FM), Pensacola’s locally owned and operated country radio station, has won the 2026 NAB Marconi Radio Award for Medium Market Station of the Year.

Presented by the National Association of Broadcasters, the award recognizes excellence in radio and service to the community. Cat Country 98.7 earned the honor among medium-market radio stations from across the United States.

Station owner and General Manager Mary Hoxeng accepted the award on October 20, 2026, at the Edison Ballroom in New York City, on the eve of NAB Show New York.

Serving Pensacola When It Matters Most

For the Cat Country team, this recognition carries a powerful local connection: keeping our community informed during the historic January 2025 snowstorm.

As winter weather brought extraordinary conditions to Northwest Florida, the team worked together to provide around-the-clock coverage.

“This award was specifically awarded due to our team’s efforts during the historic snowstorm we experienced from January of 2025. Everyone pitched in and kept our communities informed 24/7. Jordan Glass and Captain Chris stayed on site during the storm and helped keep a city that is not prepared for snow, informed. I could not be prouder of our Cat Country 98.7 team!”

— Mary Hoxeng, Station Owner and General Manager

That commitment reflects what local radio means to us: being here for our neighbors, sharing information they can use and staying connected when our community needs us.

What Is a Marconi Radio Award?

Established in 1989, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards recognize outstanding achievement by radio stations and on-air personalities, including their service to local communities.

The awards are named for inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi. Cat Country 98.7’s 2026 award recognizes WYCT-FM as Medium Market Station of the Year.
