Free Pensacola Shred-A-Thon Returns October 3, 2026
Safely dispose of old documents and help protect your personal information during the 2026 Community-Wide Shred-A-Thon in Pensacola.
The free document-shredding event will be held Saturday, October 3, from 8 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds. Members of the public may bring up to 50 pounds of personal documents per person for secure shredding.

The event is designed for personal document disposal and is not intended for businesses or companies with bulk records.
What documents should you shred?
Bring outdated paperwork containing sensitive or personally identifiable information, including:
- Bank and credit card statements
- Old tax documents
- Medical records and insurance paperwork
- Pay stubs and employment records
- Utility bills
- Canceled checks
- Documents containing account numbers
- Papers displaying your Social Security number, birthdate, signature or address
- Preapproved credit offers and other sensitive mail
Securely destroying these documents can reduce the chance of personal information being recovered from household trash and used for identity theft or fraud.
How to prepare your documents
Please prepare your paperwork before arriving:
- Remove documents from three-ring binders.
- Staples and paper clips are acceptable.
- Do not tape boxes closed.
- Do not tie bags containing documents.
- Bring personal documents only.
- Stay within the 50-pound limit.
- Arrive early because service may end once the shredding trucks are full.
